The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL is sleek and stylish. Finally revealed at the LA Auto Show recently, the Wrangler JL keeps generally the same outward appearance and design, but there are a number of updates that make the Wrangler JL the most advanced Wrangler out there! Let’s take a closer look at the performance and engine options in the Wrangler JL!

2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Engine Options

The 2018 Wrangler JL comes standard with the traditional 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that reaches 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission but offers an 8-speed automatic transmission as well.

A new engine option is available on the JL. This engine is a 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder turbocharged engine that gets 270 horsepower and 296 pound-feet of torque. This engine is available on all trim levels and comes standard with the 8-speed automatic transmission.

Available in 2019 is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine. This engine is expected to produce up to 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, and it will be paired with a livelier version of the TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission.

2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Performance

The new Jeep Wrangler JL sees some great upgrades in the off-road arena, with mechanical updates and more capabilities than ever before. The JL features increased ground clearance, reaching up to 10.8 inches (up from a maximum of 9.6 inches on previous models), and water fording depth is a maximum of 30 inches at 5 mph, without any additional packages. Ultimately the Wrangler JL can cover steeper inclines and drive over more rocks and water than ever before, making it the most capable Jeep Wrangler to date.
