Dodge Challenger

The Challenger arrived on the scene in 1970, packing performance in a shape that is unforgettable. It became the symbol for Dodge at the height of the muscle car era. The Challenger remains locked in memory years after the last of the originals left the plant. In 2008, the Challenger was reborn. This one packed more heat under the hood, including the famed SRT model. It was a classic for a modern era, a throwback to the days when raw horsepower was never regulated. Influenced by the shape of the original, the Challenger became a legend for the second time evoking the memories of the past with today’s performance. The Challenger story continues today. The shape remains, but the details changed. There is a grille texture and rear taillight arrangement that honors the 1971 Challenger. The interior has been changed to become more driver-focused. Looking at the Challenger, it is both classic and modern at the same time. Back in 1970, who knew that its shape would become timeless? It is. That soda pop-bottle drop on the side is unmistakable. The instrument panel is completely focused on the driver. It starts with a new information screen in-between the speedometer and tachometer that is customizable to the information you need in front of the driver. The UConnect touch screen measures at 8.4-inches for a larger color readout and easy access to touchscreen functions – including the Performance Pages. The screen is now slanted towards the driver. Plus, drivers can live hands-free with the accessible phone and audio system switch on the steering wheel. To start the car, all the driver needs to do is simply push the button. There is also the option of starting the car remotely from the Keyless Enter ‘n Go fob. Four different engines power the Challenger lineup. It starts with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, generating 295 horsepower its engine bay. It is the only engine available with all-wheel drive in the SXT and GT. Select the R/T, and the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 becomes available with 375 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Choosing the R/T Scat Pack gets the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 485 rumbling horsepower.  The TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic is standard with the Pentastar V6 and optional on all V8 models. You could change gears with available paddle shifters for a more exciting drive. However, the six-speed TREMEC manual transmission is found standard on all V8 models.
The ultimate Challengers are two supercharged beasts that only a few drivers can handle – the SRT Hellcat and the SRT Hellcat Redeye. With 707 supercharged horsepower on tap, the Hellcat is capable is making a few cars cry in their tires. For example, a quarter-mile is easily run in 11.2 seconds. What more of a statement can you make in a sports coupe? That is where the SRT Hellcat Redeye comes in. If 707 horsepower is not enough - try 797 horses from a high-output version of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8. No other automobile priced under $80,000 can match its performance and power!
