EXTERIOR DESIGN
The Ram 1500 starts with a reimagination of its distinctive design. Once sporting its signature tall nose, large grille, and lower-set fenders, the 2019 Ram 1500 features a sleeker, lower profile. Each grille is distinctive to its specific trim level, with the Ram name out front announcing its arrival into work or anywhere it goes. The Ram 1500 comes in three cab configurations – Regular two-door, Quad Cab four-door, and Crew Cab four-door with room for up to six adults inside. Depending on the cab, there is a choice of bed sizes, starting with five-foot-seven inches to eight feet long stretched over three wheelbases.
INTERIOR DESIGN
The Ram 1500 made a name for itself with a high-quality cab made of the best materials and technology around. The 2019 Ram 1500 takes this a step further with an improved instrument panel, center stack, and seating. A big steering wheel frames one of the most comprehensive instrument clusters around. In higher trim models, a large seven-inch color display can be customized with a wide choice of readouts available for vehicle and trip functions.
An all-new, class-leading 12-inch fourth-generation UConnect touch screen is available to handle infotainment, radio, mobile application support, an optional navigation system, climate controls, and other vehicle functions. On selected trim levels, there is also the rotary e-shift connected to the eight-speed automatic, saving room from a shifter on the console and leaving the steering column free.
ENGINES
There is a choice of power. The Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque is standard with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The eTorque system adds another 90 lb-ft of torque to the V6. The V6 can get up to 25MPG on the highway. For more pulling power, the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 is available, pulling 395 horsepower with 410 lb-ft of torque, with another 130 lb-ft of torque from the eTorque system. A HEMI-equipped Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds with a maximum payload of 2,300 pounds. All three engines are available with the new eight-speed automatic transmission with a choice of two- or four-wheel drive.
CHASSIS/CAPABILITY
To offset the load, the Ram 1500 can be equipped with Active-Level Four Corner Air Suspension to add to the class-exclusive real coil setup. It is a self-leveling system that lowers automatically at highway speeds to reduce airflow underneath the truck. It can also be lowered for easier access to the truck when parked. However, the air suspension system could be raised when an obstacle needs to be cleared underneath the truck. This suspension is assembled onto a steel frame that is 100 pounds lighter than the outgoing Ram 1500. It is also the first pickup truck frame to be designed to completely absorb offset impacts – part of a safety commitment as a class leader in both active and passive protection.
There is also the class-exclusive Ram Box storage system. A Ram Box on each side of the bed eliminates the need for a third-party box and enables quicker and lockable space for the tools of the trade.
New for the Ram 1500 is the Multifunction Tailgate. This innovative tailgate allows for easier access to the bed by either a traditional drop-down way or a split opening to both sides. No need for complicated ways to access the bed – it is easy to operate!
