Gray Jeep Grand Cherokee driving on dirt in desert

How far can I go in the 2017 Grand Cherokee?

Jeep has a knack for dependability and it always has. With its signature grill, Jeep models are among the most recognizable in the world. They are also some of the best-made vehicles and consumers have lauded over Jeeps for decades. That’s all awesome, but what about the efficiency of these SUVs and off-road machines? Specifically, what about the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s gas mileage? Keep reading to learn more.

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee fuel economy

Most traditional SUVs aren’t going to get the kind of gas mileage that less powerful sedans or hybrids get. That’s just how they’re built. However, the MPG ratings of some SUVs are still respectable and impressive, and that includes the 2017 Grand Cherokee. With an EPA-estimated 26 highway MPG, you’d be hard pressed to find a similar SUV with a better fuel economy. The Grand Cherokee isn’t too bad in the city either, as it averages up to 19 MPG.

Now, how do those ratings compare to competitors? Pretty well, actually. The 2017 Toyota Highlander’s average highway MPG comes in at 24, and the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse only hits at 22 highway MPG. Both of those SUVs are formidable rivals of the Grand Cherokee, yet they don’t quite stack up in terms of gas mileage.
