The base engine on the 2016 Jeep Renegade is a 1.4-liter I-4 that gets 24 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway. The Ford Escape’s base engine is a 2.5-liter I-4 that strives for 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway. Higher trims on both vehicles offer more horsepower and towing capability, but only the Renegade’s Trailhawk trim comes with the off-roading capability that we love about the Jeep brand.
